How to Buy a Used Pixel 9 in 2026 (and What to Actually Pay)
I’ve been hunting a used Pixel 9 for weeks. Had a $300 deal lined up with a seller on RFD, then the guy ghosted me. Classic marketplace lol.
But here’s the upside of getting ghosted. Watching that market every single day taught me exactly what these phones are worth, where the deals hide, and how to not get burned. I even found a brand new in box Pixel 10 for $400 once, which tells you how soft this market is. So here’s my playbook.
What to actually pay
The Pixel 9 launched at $799. Right now clean used ones move in the low-to-mid $300s, roughly 44% of launch price. For a two-year-old flagship with that camera, that’s honestly kind of insane value.
My rules are simple. The sweet spot is $300. I will not pay a dollar over $350. Anything listed at $400 or more is someone who bought at launch and hasn’t accepted reality yet.
Quick look at the neighbors. The Pixel 8 Pro goes for around $325 used, also a steal if you want to spend even less. Used Pixel 10s float in the mid $400s, not worth the premium over a $300 9 in my book. And the 9 Pro XL? Someone offered me one at $600 and I passed, clean ones move closer to $480 anyway. The regular 9 does 90% of the job for way less money. If your budget stretches higher, here’s what $700 gets you in the used flagship market right now.
The checks I run before handing over cash
IMEI first, always. Run it through a blacklist checker before you even leave the house. Then in person: pop your SIM in and make an actual call, test the camera (the Pixel camera is the whole point, don’t skip this), pull up a plain white image to check for screen burn-in, and match the box serial to the phone if they still have the box. Ask about battery life too, or at least glance at the battery stats in settings during the meetup.
I wrote up my full smell test for sketchy listings when I found that suspiciously cheap brand new Pixel 10, and every one of those rules applies here too.
Where I actually hunt
My watch runs on the RFD Buy/Sell/Trade cell phones forum. That’s where the real deals pop up first, and it’s where my ghosted $300 deal came from lol. The good ones go fast, so set up alerts and check daily.
Karrot is my second stop, ever since I ditched Kijiji. Way less sketchy crowd, and the sold prices there are usually honest.
Facebook Marketplace works, but it’s a minefield. Bring the smell test and meet in daylight.
Bottom line
The used Pixel 9 at $300 is the best Android deal in 2026, full stop. Buy the phone, skip the launch-day tax, and put the $500 you saved toward literally anything else. Real talk, no filter.
